Well, it was made official today. Plaxico Burress has been suspended for the season and his football career could be over.
On top of that, he is facing 3 1/2 to 15 years in prison for carrying a gun without a valid permit into a nightclub.
I can't help but marvel at these people who have the whole world in front of them and throw it all away because they don't have the brains that God gave them.
And of course there are all the coverups, like Pierce trying to cover up the incident and then the doctors at the hospital who didn't report the gunshot wound. It really makes you wonder what this world is coming to.
This story is far from over even though Plax's fate for this season has been sealed. I know that other sports figures who have broken the law have been given second chances, but who is going to want to touch this guy who has been nothing but trouble since he got to the Giants? No wonder Pittsburgh didn't want him.
I'm a big giants fan, but I can no longer be a fan of this guy. Still if you want to get some of his memorabilia (it's going to be worth something with all the notoriety) you can find some stuff at Amazon. You might, however, want to get some stuff by those who actually are role models.
Oh brother...just got done watching tonight's news. Seems that there is a possibility that the gun Plax used to shot himself in the thigh with may not be registered. What this means is that there may be criminal charges.
The Giants had no comment because of this situation but you can see where this is going.
For starters, add the bullet wound to the hamstring injury and Plax is out for a long time, maybe even the rest of the season. And even if he manages to heal up and be ready to play, now he's got legal problems.
Which brings us to the Giants and what they're going to do with this nut case after this season is over...or possibly even before it ends. It's clear that Burress is a liability to this team. This is just the cherry on the banana split to a long line of problems that Burress has been inflicting on himself and the Giants this season.
And then of course there is the question of what this is going to do to the Giant's playoff hopes. How important is Burress to this team?
Personally, I think they can still win without him. They have a very well balanced team. The running game is about the best in the NFL and Manning has finally come into his own. The defense is solid and Justin Tuck is without a doubt a star.
I think you'll find that the Giants will not only win without Burress but be better off without his disruptive influence.
Well, the rumors are flying all over the place today. First there is news that supposedly last night a a night club Plaxico Burress "accidentally" shot himself in the leg. Yeah, it might have been by accident but more likely than not, he was half stoned out of his mind.
Let's be honest, the only reason the Giants got Burress from Pittsburgh is because they didn't want anything more to do with this guy who was more trouble than he was worth.
And the funny thing is, people thought that Burress reporting late and getting fined and benched for a game was the end of it. Now with this recent escapade, folks are starting to wonder.
In the meantime, rumors are flying around that Burress is about to be released by the Giants who have just about have enough of this loose cannon.
Are they true? Who the hell knows at this point? Nobody really believed the idiot shot himself when THAT news broke so who knows?
Don't be surprised if you find that this is the last year that Burress is with the defending Super Bowl champions...even if he's not released today or anytime soon.
